A picture is worth a thousand words. A picture describes scenes and emotions that words alone can simply never express. How many times have you wished to capture an incident in a single, immortal image? How many times have you been captivated by a picture or something that you have experienced in your dreams or your nightmares?

Souheil Semaan is a photographer who probes the depth of his art. Born and brought up in the Lebanon, Souheil developed a love of photography that blossomed in the midst of the painful strife that struck his beloved motherland.

To follow his heart's desire, Souheil moved to Paris, the world's Arts capital, to Study. He graduated with distinction in photography from the highly regarded MJM School of Photography.

During his sojourn in Paris, Souheil worked as a test photographer for a leading model agency and as a freelance photojournalist. He photographed the Lebanese war, was in Eastern Europe to capture the fall of communism on film, and shot film whilst other's fired bullets in Yugoslavia during the early days of the Balkan conflict. Not always on the frontline, Souheil also lectured in commercial photography.

Souheil's career evolved when he moved to Dubai in 1992 to set up his own studio and model agency, CONTRAST professional photography. In the last decade, Souheil has developed a reputation as one of the region's best and most innovative photographers. Experience in the field has allowed Souheil to inject a vital creativity into his studio work.

His skills are much sought after. Souheil was one of 10 photographers selected throughout the world to judge the Nikon Photographic Competition International (NPCI) in 2007 held in Ttokyo, he lectures at universities across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe and is frequently commissioned by professional photographers to hold private seminars.
